Industry search data through early 2026 still puts MOT check near the top of UK motoring queries, on the order of two million searches a month. Drivers also hunt for vehicle tax dates, ULEZ rules and full “car check” packs before a private sale.
Commercial reports often start around a few pounds and climb for finance, stolen and write-off flags. Those extras matter for a purchase. For “is the MOT in date?” and “is it taxed?”, the government already publishes the answer.
